Cat Predicts Death

From MSNBC:

Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours.

His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

This cat is probably picking up on subtle changes in these patient's conditions.

Our dogs do the same thing. When one of my daughters developed a high fever in the middle of the night our dogs came in our room to wake my husband and I. They then went back into our oldest daughter's room. She was burning up with fever but sleeping peacefully. We would have never known without them.

I think the cat like most cats can see the patioents souls. because cats can talk to souls and not living people it knows when the soul is taking breaks and hangs out with the cat... the only thing with which it can associate while in between body and heaven.

Let's face it. Its a nursing home. I could walk into any of those rooms randomly and that person has a pretty good chance of kicking the proverbial bucket. I agree that its a bit creepy, but I'd be more impressed if the ol' puddy tat was doing this in an apartment building of a more widespread age group.

I bet the residents of that home now FREAK OUT when the cat comes walking their way. I'm no cat, but I predict that feline will soon be found dead of mysterious causes.

This story isn't going to be so charming when it turns out one of the nursing staff has been putting, like, poison on the cat's fur. Turns out there's a serial killer loose! Run! lol

Who knew that "Death" came in the form of a cat?

Charles Dickens would have to re-write "A Christmas Carol" to show that Scrooge was visited by 3 cats. :)

The residents will say the cat seemed depressed lately. It complained of being upstaged by Lindsey Lohan in the news and how Paris Hilton never calls back.

the other Oscar!

I just read this on the news today ... isn't that amazing? It says that Oscar is a normal cat with an extra-normal sense for death and that the families are spooked by the cat keeping death watch and Oscar is shooed from the bed and locked from the room. He does not like this. Other families are deeply appreciative of Oscar... :) Some even say that Oscar presence gave a sense of completion and contentment...what's more peaceful than a purring cat when leaving this life?... :D

You go tell them Oscar!!! :D

Yeah visited by 3 hip cats!!! lol

But seriously, Its not as creepy as it seems, the cat comforts those who are about to die, and those folks don’t even know the cats there.
This cat is not a people friendly cat, it “meows” like upset, paces back and forth when taken out of a room.
Most who die, die within four hours, tell me if you can really just randomly choose someone, pick out who will die, I think not. Well its an interesting story none the less.
