I always remember her on the anniversary of her death. What a great lady.

"She brought great joy to all who knew her and to millions who knew her only as a great artist. She gave unselfishly of time and talent to serve her government in peace and war. She loved her country. She is and always will be a star, one we shell never forget, nor cease to be grateful to."

Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1942

I just learned this the other day, but Carole Lombard was born in Ft Wayne Indiana, which is where I grew up. Apparently a couple bought the house she was born in and turned it into a B&B. I can't tell you how many times I've been by this house and not even realized what it was!

Lombard

She was so breathtakingly beautiful. I love the stories of her raunchy wit and practical jokes.

A patriot and glamorous. Thanks for reminding us of her on this day.

Carole Lombard, one of my favorite stars ! she was so good in screwball comedy! Remember "Nothing Sacred"? She was funny, inteligent, she had striking good looks, no wonder Clark Gable fell hard. :)

Lombard was definately one of the greats

Anybody see the film that had James Brolin as Gable and Jill Clayburgh as Lombard? As much as I like Clayburgh she just didn't seem right as her to me.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Mr. Streisand playing "The King" as well as Jill Clayburgh playing Carole Lombard were great miscasting mistakes!
