Care to join my no eating after 7 p.m. (EDIT) or 3 hours before bed thread?

Same thing happened to me with Concerta. I didn't lose so much so fast, but I got down to my lowest weight ever, 107, which was not good. I could only eat Trader Joe's trail mix bars (a few a day) and an occasional bag of popcorn.

It eventually sucked more than what I was using Concerta to treat anyway, so I went off it.

As of right now though, I need to lose some weight! So it's back to walking everywhere and banning ice cream from the freezer!

I never had this effect from my tablets! Complete opposite for me!!

Atkins? It's totally unhealty. You should have a balanced diet. It didn't do Mr Atkins any good did it?

Not to be argumentative, but I hate misinformation, I think he died from hitting his head on the ground and not something preventable. It could happen to anyone. Different things work for different people after all. My Mom can't do Atkins, hates it, but my Grandma loves it and has stayed really healthy with it for 5 years. The best meal plan/diet after all is one that you can stick with.

Anyway, hmm, I like this no eating 3 hours before bed. It is so hard to resist snacking sometimes. Yum, but horrible for the waistline, lol.

Lets all remember that with a topic like this....

What works for one person, may not work for another, and may not be what another person can live with in their life long term.

So no more bashing other peoples eating plans....

Let's remember that nice 'vintage' adage, 'If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all' and apply to this discussion.

I have cut down on eating too much wheat and found that it gives me the impression of having lost weight just because I'm not so bloated - is this true for anyone else? It's not carbs in general - I'm fine with oat muesli for example, just wheaty stuff - especially dense bready things like bagels.

I have problems with whole wheat- it upsets my stomach. And I am lactose intolerant but did not know this 'til recently. Since I stopped eating dairy my clothes fit me the way they should due to less bloating!

Olive, oh boy, do I know what you mean! I have worked at a desk job for three years now. I have about 40 pounds to lose, too.

I used to go to Curves all the time - and loved it! Lost 30 pounds. Then we had a health crisis with my husband and I gained 10 lbs back, which I'm trying to get rid of again, plus the other 30 I'd like to get rid of. But now that I don't have a Curves close to me, I dropped my membership. I miss it - it was a great work-out in only 30 minutes.

I can't do the "no snacks after 7 p.m." because I'm a diabetic. And I don't want my blood sugar to be out of whack when I wake up in the morning. :)

wheat and dairy both make me bloated and phlegmy! i'm pretty good about not eating dairy too often (i'm vegetarian but keep a vegan apartment) but i'm horribly addicted to wheat, even though it makes me feel awful.

anyway... i've been trying not to eat late into the evening. being that i spend a lot of evenings studying in coffeehouses these days, this will be difficult (mmm, cookies) but essential if i don't want to gain a million pounds and be broke!

miss1940s... if you want to cut down on your nighttime fast-food runs, i suggest you read Fast Food Nation - it'll make you never want to touch the stuff again!

I'm trying

I've got to get into some sort of habit before I go off to college (I want and need to avoid the dreaded freshman 15)!!!
I've been trying to eat three meals a day (cut out some carbs here and there), a healthy snack, and some hot tea at night.
I just find myself eating whenever I'm in the kitchen too, which can't be good thing :p.

Habits are the things that make diets actually work.
Cutting out carbs here and there really does nothing for you. That's not the way "low carb" diets work. There is a system that goes along with it, and it is CRITICAL that it be done that way or it is really not beneficial, other that helping cut back on overall calorie intake.
Good luck to you!
