Looking for a pair of well built capped toe brown shoes. WELL BUILT is the key - I want a pair that will last a very long time with truly classic design. Seems to be a simple request and not too much to ask for, right?

Source for sturdy brown cap-toe oxfords

I generally buy my shoes from Sherman Brothers. You can easily find their web site. I favor AllenEdmonds, but some of the Alden shoes look good as well. They are not cheap, but if you are looking for good-looking, well-crafted shoes of quality material, you are not going to get them at Thom McAn (whoops, they still make that brand, but is seems that their retail stores have disappeared).

Just ordered Johnston and Murphy Meltons. Found them on sale for 118! Normally 170. I had to send them back for a half size smaller but they are great and will last me a while I hope. I have a black pair that has been resoled once and going strong.
