Can't seem to find decent fitting polos...

Finding polos that aren't oversized and are somewhat fitted has been a bit of a problem for me. Old Navy's are all washed and distressed, and Gap and other's are overpriced. It shouldn't be this hard to find a good, 100% cotton pique knit black polo shirt.

Any suggestions?

(Apologies for the un-vintage nature of the thread.)

I still have a couple of polos - they're a nice change for a more casual outfit. I used to wear them to work on 'non-suit' days, before I took to wearing a shirt and cravat all the time. In my experience, you tend to have to pay the higher price for the better fitting polos, just the way it is. Those from the Gap are comparatively expensive, but on the other hand they do wash well and last. Marks and Spencer and C&A I had good experience with too, though I suspect that you'll not find either of those stores in florida (I think C&A are Europe only, and Marksies if I remember correctly wound up their overseas business a few years ago). Do you have Uniqlo in Florida? They're a Japanese-owned clothing store that sells a lot of basics like that. Not far off the Gap in tewrms of market for contemporary basics, but much much cheaper. I've had a few pairs of trousers and a long sleeve t-shirt from them that I like a lot.

Cotton Traders I hear good things about - you should be able to buy them online?

I am myself a little uneasy with some of the very cheap places for this sort of thing because it does leave me wondering whether they exploited third world labour in order to produce goods so cheaply, but then paying much more is no guarantee of fair trade practices either....

I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but Orvis, Lands End, L.L. Bean and Patagonia all make very good polo shirts. Lands End probably has the best selection across price points, and all of these companies have an internet presence.

Hope this helps....
