Can't help it, I like how I look in a felt hat

We have 80 degree weather now, well, until tomorrow, and getting dressed, I just had to slip on my Stetson Saxon in caribou to see how it would look with my black suit with blue stripes (not jet black, but darker than a navy suit definitely). Wow, I looked sharp IMO. It is after all, my first and only felt hat. I put it away and put on my Panama Bob hat, and well, the look is not as impressive. I am not going to enjoy waiting until Mid October or so before I can wear that hat.

Ok, end of rant/wistful thinking

C'mon now memphislawyer - you're an officer of the Court, the front line of justice! And you're gonna let a little thing like sunlight keep you from wearing that fedora??!!
Don't be a wimp. Slap that felt on your noggin and go make some justice!

Well, I did don navy blue socks so sitting at my desk, I am obsessing over how I could be a dufus. To my credit, I do not turn on the light while letting my wife sleep a bit longer, as I leave the house by 7:00 each morning.

Welcome to my world..

...Memphis lawyer....I just like how I look in fedoras, too, so I just wear them. It is, what it is, as they say.

I concur ... felt hats look better

I put away my straw hats this summer after feeling that I did not look as good as I did in a fur felt. It is usually a warm place here in Winnipeg, Canada in summer but this summer has been a wet and cooler one. I made the change and have stuck to it even in the few 30 degree Celsius sunny days we have had. Sure it gets warm under a felt topper but I have adapted and now it is not that uncomfortable.

80 degrees? Wear that hat! I wore my Fed IV all summer, outdoors, mostly to see if I could do it, AND, I love the way I look in it. I had to do some brow mopping on occasion, but no more so than even when I wear (wore) a baseball cap.

I have a Panama Bob Diamonte which looks great with a suit. The block is such a nice diamond and so well proportioned that I've used it as a model to crease felt hats. I usually wear it when the temp gets above 85 here in Pasadena, where humidity is generally in the 20% - 30% range no matter how hot it gets.

85 or less and I wear my Art Fawcett lightweight felts, or my Dobbs 20 which is also a very lightweight felt. But the PB Diamonte is a nice hat. He usually has them on ebay.

Scotty, if only we all could be like that. "Some brow mopping on occasion" describes my hat wearing life in WINTER! lol

Everybody loves to charge forth in the name of what they love... in this case hats. But a word to the wise; if you dare to wear your felt in the heat, first try it when appearances and comfort don't matter too much. The concept of wearing felt in 80 degree weather makes me feel faint just thinking about it, while others wear it all year 'round. A modest test, perhaps running a weekend errand, will tell you what you need to know.

If I tried to wear felt prior to Oct/Nov, it'd look like that!

I'm with you ML, I just can't get in sync with straw. I wear felts year round but I do cut way back in summer. I don't sweat so bad that I can't wear a felt to the car from the office and vice versa. The a/c in my cars and in my office all work well.
