Is that a good holy shit or a waste of time holy shit. if good I will sort and count tomorrow. Here's a pic of another Brock. Size 7. The material is different than the others. More fuzzy. I'm thinking this could be fur felt ???
the good type. I don't know what you are sitting on but should make a proper inventory and try to value each hat individually. So name, size, age, picture of hat, liner, tags. If thay's a random selection it may be a sweet collection. Whrte did you get them?

For the Borsalino lovers with small size  this is a gem.
From the paper label and the patch it could be made before the WWII and then put on the Canadian market.
It depends from the importer of that time
It is up to you the search ;)

Congratulations sir, you have just seem to have found the holy grail! I think it's the best possible "holy shit" there is. I have to stop myself from jumping up and down. This has got to be the find of a lifetime for most of us (would certainly be for me, because so far they're in my size too). These hats are certainly worth taking the time for to do a good cataloguing piece by piece and post lots of nice pictures for us to drool over. Maybe have a quick look at the German and Austrian hatmakers thread for the best way to take the pictures: Mayserwegener (Steve) always shows his hats in glorious and flattering detail.

Around 7 years ago we bought an inventory of a man who made his living renting costumes. The fedoras and other hats are part of this.

Some of these hats might be worth a bit more, some a bit less, but by the looks of it if it were me I'd make a catalogue. You could photograph each individually, like hats are photographed in the 'german austrian' thread would be a good idea, and if sweatbands are malleable take shots of any tags or serial numbers under the sweatbands. If you post here you might then get dates for the hats helping with the inventory, noting faults if any. You could learn that an italian 7 is a US 7 1/8 is a vintage french 5 is a whatever unless it's an italian 5 1/2. Essentially you'll be able to list them correctly. Then you can search sold items in ebay and get a better idea of what is a good price for them. It would take some time but perhaps be worthwhile and enjoyable. I'm quite sure you could sell some in the classys here or ebay if that is your overall intention, or you could simply post the lot to me as a kind of present you could feel good about (-:

Thanks for the help. Looks like inhale some work to do in order to get these catalogued. My plan will be to post them on the classifieds once I get them organized and hopefully closer to understanding their vintage. In the meantime I snapped a few more pics of some different names and a couple pics of some of the boxes we have. Enjoy!

The Canadian plant was the Wolthausen Hat Co in Brockville Ontario. I would love to have one of the Wolthausen hats if anyone knows where I might be able to get one.
I have a made in Canada "The Imperial Stetson" with a stamp "Peller and Mure, Buffalo NY". I was hoping to determine the year and what it is made of. It has longer hairs than felt, very soft, almost velour in look and feel. I'm wondering whether it is even fur.

Hi Barry,
Can you post some nice, clear photos of the hat in question. The hat is almost certainly rabbit fur, but the photos of the interior of the hat showing the liner and sweatband will help establish the date...
