Bringing this thread forward one year!

The SAR Tech jackets are out there as well - Types III (intermediate) , IV (winter with fur collar) and V (aramid).

Photo: Type V from SAREX 12.

Just picked up one of these! I got the old dark green winter jacket, tag dated 1981. Compared to the other 80s and 90s CAF jackets I've seen, it seems this jacket has a higher percentage of cotton in the cotton/nylon blend (66% vs the later 50%), as well as a "Mouton Lambskin Collar", whereas I understand later models use a synthetic shearling material. The interlining is 100% wool.

The cut and design looks very 1950s to my eyes, very short, like a 50s motorcycle jacket.

Great looking jacket, great condition. Thanks for posting. Yeah, the proportions of those older jackets are definitely 'vintage'...

Thanks. Yeah, I hope it fits. I won't be back to try it on for a few months at least. In your experience with the jackets, do you find they fit small or large? I'm a size 37 chest and I don't like wearing large-fitting or loose jackets so I decided to go for the 7036 size instead of the 7040.

The size tags on those older jackets are not reliable so who knows. These jackets fit wide and short, i.e. big chest sizes, short torso. The sleeves are a generous length, though. They're made to go with matching insulated overalls and over several layers. It's hit or miss. If it doesn't fit, you should have no problems selling that jacket in HK or Japan.

here's the later blue version... which was eventually replaced by a blue version minus the fur collar, and ultimately by a fireproof version
