With Dot and Lightning zips it is almost certainly British. It is not RAF issue and my guess is it was made for the motorbike/private plane market in the 1940s.

Ha ha - I haven't bought it and although I love leather jackets this kind of garment is not my thing at all. I was just v curious as to what on earth it is - never seen one and of course whether it was worth lots more than the asking price.

Well to honest, and I suppose judgemental, personally I think as a riding suit it would look pretty shapeless and bulky. As a rider of old bikes (BSA A65) and new(Hayabusa) I have worn all sorts of garments and if it doesnt look that attractive I doubt anyone would wear it as a riding suit. Even if I had a real old bike like a pre war HRD, Brough, V twin Matchless BSA etc I think I would go the Belstaff route.
It does not look military though does look rather boxy though personally I like a little shape in my leathers.
Just my opinions which count for nothing really. But if I was buying it..........well I would not buy it to make a profit unless it was full of labels such as D Lewis, Aviakit, Highwayman(not the Aero jacket) Oakleaf etc that I could remove to restore other garments. And of course the zips :)
