Centinar is a possibility. Also Centines? But I can't find a serviceman with any names I try.
I, too, thought the last bit was Ens for Ensign.

Gosh, I'm starting to think the surname doesn't start with a C, not much resemblance to the initial "C". Also, could the name be ending in "as"?
