Looks just spectacular, Renault, like you brought all the proper essentials. Still, though, makes me think of W.C. Fields line, "Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water."

But seems like you had all that covered... Thanks for bringing us along, sir!

Currently the benevolent order of iron sighted rifle shooters aka BOOISRS (boozers) for short, are planning their next stated convocation at a private location. May be a while,,,, but a report will follow.

As mentioned on another thread I've been in the process of assembling and manufacturing new gear and clothing for my vintage hunting camp. Recently I put together this as part of the new kit.

M1904 Garrison belt
Mckeever ctg box for Krag and .30 Govt ammo
A Nowell of Sheffield 7" Bowie w/ my own made scabbard
A Russell Green River Hunter knife w/ another of my scabbards for utility work.

Very nice young man, I cannot wait for the actual photos from camp. It's like waiting for another series of Game of thrones! ;-)

Well, I recently returned home from an annual jaunt to meet up with some friends in western New Mexico. Didn't get many photos, but I did get a pic of my camp.

Temps were much better than the 100+F I returned to! 47-49F in mornings and it had to really work at breaking 80F in the afternoons. Food was excellent! Lots of shooting occurred. And there were several Mason jars of "shine" that disappeared!

It was difficult to sleep much past 6:00 am. As the cow elk began chirping and the Bulls bugling over in the meadow about 5:30! Lots of elk this year!!! Love those sounds!!!! Saw lots of speed goats on the prairie, even saw a pair of badgers. Overall a great time!!!

Big Man!

It was awesome!!! With all the recent family medical issues, this was my first opportunity to get back I to the woods since last Thanksgiving!!!! Once I set up camp, I really didn't do anything except cook when we were hungry, shoot a little, and explore the environs with friends!!!! It was a mental and physical recharge!
Next adventure will not be until October. Looks like we will all head to Colorado for some elk hunting and trout fishing. I haven't decided if I will hunt yet. Let the boys do that. But I could really use some rod and reel time!!!!

Some of the best trips I've been on were those kinds of trips where all I did was just sit back and enjoy being there.

Ha! I find the older I get, that's the way most all my trips end up!!!!! Lounging, a pipe, a drink, and when the chance permits a pair of field glasses to watch the boys bust their buns on the side of a mountain!!! LOL!

There's a camp with style, glad you had a great time my friend, just been camping on the Lizard in Cornwall, only used a modern lightweight tent and while we had a great time we had15 hours of solid rain followed by a really gusty night. Tent and family went without issue. May disturb the sleep but feeling that close to the elements with just a thin bit of nylon is good for the soul.

Must get a canvas job for next year and read your adventures of huntin an a fishin

Thanks Mike.

Got lots done around landowners cabin. Gotta make another haul down there when I get back from Colorado elk hunt. Did see lots of young bucks, turkeys, and the quail were everywhere. Hadn't seen quail like this in at least 20 years! Maybe more! Lots of fresh nilgai sign too!!!
It was a good weekend. But I am wore out!

Amazing what a lot of rain will do.

This! ^^^^ Heck the place is only 40 miles west of Laguna Madre if that far! Great sea breeze. There were 3 and 4 foot weeds in the front of the cabin. But I got em taken care of. as well as a good supply of seasoned live oak firewood laid in for them!
