If your way out there Riverside and San Bernardino Counties can be pretty rural. They are amongst the largest counties in the whole United States. One of them is bigger than Rhode Island!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...

Is it? Yeah, it is pretty... well, I live near a cow farm. And there's goats just behind the Home Depot. lol But I like it here, for now. I want to move soon, though. Down towards Anaheim, most probably.

Oh, and a question, are there southern (or all of California) California get-togethers? will they be posted here?

Yes, there are get-togethers, Lady Jessica, and they are posted regularly. In fact, there is one this Saturday, at the Edendale Grill in Silverlake (Los Angeles).

I saw that! But this Saturday is no good for me. I'll definitely go to the next one! :) Thank you for the answer.

The place to look is the events forum for that or hear depending on the person holding the event.

There are lots of events here in So Cal, there was just one up in San Pedro at Ft. mac this past weekend. Do you live anywhere near Ontario? Because I work at an Art Deco theater up there and if you like old movies, and alot of great vintage atmosphere. The Granada is the place to go we have movies there every Fri-Sat evening. Its a one screen but everything for the most part is intact.

I want to have a lounge event there some time during the summer.

We are located at 303 N. Euclid Ave in Ontario.

We have a historic theater right in my town, too. It's neat, they used to show retro movies, but not so much anymore. It's lovely and smells old, though. And in the neighboring town, they have an old theater. But I love movies and move theaters, so I'll keep it in mind! Oh, and I'd love to go for an event.

The Granada is the one of 6 other Elevators in the state of California in 1926, and its still working today in all its wood paneled glory. The balcony is awesome, the restrooms are still teeny tiny lol. We just showed Lon Chaney in "The Phantom of The Opera" from 1925.

And once a month we have an entirely era correct event. With correct decor, furniture, concessions. The last event we had about 20 1930s Fords out front. Everyone dressed up! We go to extreme lengths to bring attendees back in time, and plus its a lot of fun!

That sounds exciting, and I love vintage cars! I'm an expert at teeny tiny restrooms, the modern theater in town has the smallest bathrooms I've ever seen! I will definitely have to check this place out. Maybe I'll go for my birthday this year. :)

Awesome, I am gonna try and make it a loung event, or a place for local loungers to come and bring their families, or significant others. Its a really fun place, we are gonna be remodeling the lower half sometime soon, the former owners ripped out the original seats (the balcony seating it original still).

The main thing is that if you have interests in in something vintage like clothes or movies or 78's or whatever, you can come and join in the fun.

The idea is to communicate with people that have similar likes (and maybe even dislikes.)

We have knowledgeable people that like to share the information with others, info they have garnered and gleaned from their experiences.

Hey Danny!! Welcome to the Lounge! Dylan from 2nd ID.
Hey Dylan,
Yeah, been popping through here every once in a while and decided to register; it's a swell place! I saw the pictures of the event you and Kurt put on at the Granada, looks like you guys had a great time, and those period concessions were pretty rockin'. When's the next big event you guys are going to do? I might have to head down from the Bay to hit it up.

Born-Again Californian

Just discovered this great thread and happy to see there are so many Californians in the Lounge. I've lived in Long Beach for 9 years this month, after growing up in New England and living in various parts of the country, from Maine to Seattle...and with a place in Palm Springs, as well now, I can say that I'm a confirmed Californian--no desire to live anywhere else, even in the midst of our current budget crisis!:D

I'd like to see some more events in Northern California, folks. The Art Deco Society events are just too damned expensive.
