Another jacket I love to stare at, but hardly ever wear. I'll probably never find another one like this, so this is going to be a soft sale. If someone really wants it, cool, if not, I guess I'll just keep staring at it from time to time.

Not the usual Cal we often hear about. The leather is more mid weight than the usual beasty type stuff, but still substantial. I'd gauge it to be slightly heavier than the Vicenza and Badalassi I've handled. Very pliable and supple. Straight zip and no shoulder gussets. So I'd say it's more "fashion" looking and wearing. Even the side laces feel more finessed than the usual Cal's I've seen and handled. Of course I'm sure it can take a beating on a bike as well, but the few times I wore it, it was very comfortable and like I said more practical for everyday purposes than the usual cross zips with deep gussets and monster thick hides.

Most likely a 1960s model (based on the tear drop talon dangles). On the link below is the whole story and the original listing. Long story short, a TFLer scored this in a vintage shop for peanuts. It has a reseller label on it and not a Cal one, so store probably had no idea what they had. But it is 100% Cal. The collective knowledge of the thread confirms it and I had Gwen at Cal Leathers look at it once, and she said "oh yeah".

I'm pretty sure I paid $550-575 for it. I will not sell for less than $525, ppff Conus shipping included. I'll bump this from time to time so anyone on the hunt for something special like this might see it. But this is definitely not meant to be a fire sale clear the closet type thing, so I'm good chilling on this one.

If interested, I'll send you more current photos, but everything in this thread below is pretty accurate. Besides the mutton collar, it also comes with one of those fuzzy throat latches and the badge holder on its own if you decide you want to stitch that on. When I say it's mint, it's in better condition than some newer "once or twice" worn kind of stuff I've gotten. The fact that it's from the 60's is mind blowing.

For reference, the shot of me wearing below, I'm 6'0 185 lbs. Side laces are about half way pulled in and it's very comfortable, even with the IH flannel on. I'm wearing low rise jeans there, but with a mid or high rise pair, the jacket will mostly hit and cover at the belt level, again at about 5'11-6'0 range.

Anyway, thanks for reading...

might be last bump on this and then I'll take it as sign to just keep it. Jake put out a great video on Youtube about this style of jacket which is probably one of the inspirations for the illustrious FW Mulholland. I've handled enough vintage jackets to know it's a special piece given the mint condition. Just wish it was an inch or two longer and then I would never part with it. But so it is.

Oh man I am seriously tempted by this one. I’m 5’ 9” and think the length would be great.

What are the shoulder and sleeve measurements?
Hey there. At 5'9, this should give you a really nice length. I'm 6'0 and I find it about an inch too short for my liking. I guess I could go get some super high rise jeans, but I've got too many jackets and I told myself, if I ever get into a situation where the jackets are circumstantial, that's when it's time to sell them off.

On this thread by the original seller, he's got a ton of pics and measurements. I'll double check them when I get home, but I found them pretty accurate when I bought them. Hit me up on DM if it's close enough and I can provide any other info you need. I should be home in about an hour.

tiny bump for this. Still on the fence about it, but if someone is looking for Cal straight zip, promise you'll never find one better than this one.

I didn't realise you were still thinking of moving this one.
What a stunning Cal!

If the s2s was an inch'ish more...

It's sold. Ain't going to lie, selling this one out of all the other things I've ever sold makes me the saddest :(

It is so GD perfect in every way. I know this more because of all the other Cals I've handled. I dare to say, it will be tough to find one like this again. Original hardware, pretty much mint condition, perfectly weighted leather, on and on and on. But it was the proverbial inch too short and every time I'd grab it to wear, I somehow wished it magically grew in the back of my closet.

Hope it fits you well, if not lmk, as there was at least one other person who was really hot on it; you were just a little quicker with sealing up the details. but glad it's going to a good home.
