CAL Straight Zip Leather Jacket ID?

Hey everyone, I picked up this jacket about a year ago. I 've always been under the assumption that it's an old CAL leather jacket but unfortunately there's not tag, maybe it came off or the jacket has been relined? I'm also thinking about selling it.

Is there anyway to verify that this is a CAL?

Thanks!

Cals usually have two rows of stitching where the cuff is folded inwards, whereas Al’s tend to have only one. The YKK also suggests Al’s, however I’m not quite sure about the other details, including the sleeve zippers and pocket placement. An early Al’s perhaps (I think they settled into a more distinct groove later on) or a Cal with altered sleeves?

Awesome! Thanks so much for that. If I was to sell it, any idea how much I should put it up for?

Thanks!

I thought I'd read on these forums that Cal made jackets for Al's Leather, and a few other re-labelerss (Mr. S, etc. ) but I'm not sure how to prove that.

I think Cal has used YKK zippers in some periods, although the more vintage ones use Talon or Crown hardware.

Quote from the Cal-Leather Jackets FB page, about us.:

“Our vintage leather motorcycle jackets may be found with either our current Cal-Leather label or the earlier Star Glove & Leather label. Both lines are highly valued and sought after by discriminating collectors. Many of our jackets in the 50’s and 60’s were produced for private labels or law enforcement agencies and may not have a label. This has allowed other makers to try to claim our jackets as their own, but our quality craftsmanship and original styling distinguishes us from the rest.”
