Nice gloves PF. I've been tempted by those myself. I'd like a pair I can wear with my A-2 on occasion. The older I get the colder my hands get. Sometimes when the A-2 is enough to keep my body warm, my hands are still cold. Are they nice and toasty?

They have a very warm wool lining. The break in period is almost done being goatskin(2 days). I purchased these from History Preservation Assoc in Cherry Hill NJ. They were able to help with the right size and they have most sizes in stock. Well worth the money. All I have ever seen were photos of originals so it I can't judge for stitch for stitch details but they look very good. But to answer your question they are very warm.

Eastman USAAF Type A-10 comparision

Did you look at the Eastman USAAF Type A-10 gloves ?
How do the B.R. pair match up to these.
Anyone bought these (Eastman) and would recommend them ?
Thanks,
Alan

I contacted History Preservation Associates first about the Eastman gloves. They were out of them in my size but had a large selection of the BR gloves at the same cost. I would love to have a pair of originals but I too would be afraid to wear them. These work for me. I was looking at the Aero but didn't want to wait. The packaging was awesome almost as good as the gloves. These I had on my hands in 3 days. Anyone have good pics of the originals??

The Eastman ones are very good indeed. They ought to be for £90 !!!!!
I'll be putting a pair of size 11's on Ebay in the next week or so as i have too many gloves and am getting out of collecting and focussing on my motorbikes more. So keep your eyes peeled. Oh, and Eastman ones seem to run a size smalller than labelled. I'm a 9.5 and the 11s fit fine.

I have had a pair of Eastman A-10's for about 6 to 7 years now. Have developed a lovely patina and are going strong. They are a QUALITY item, well constructed and the ribbed knitting around the wrist is great for keeping the chills out! I swear by them!!
The only bit that is 'starting' to go on them is the wool lining on the inside around the end of some of the fingers, but they've been used pretty hard by me, so that's ok!

But £90? - seriously?? I had no idea. I didn't pay anywhere near that (I just couldn't to be honest). Have also handled the Aero ones - and not impressed at all (just seem cheap and plasticky as far as their A-10's go) so if you can get a second hand pair of ELC or BR, go for it!! .

I purchased a pair of Estman Leather A-10 with my Cable Raincoat contract A-2. I think they are the same thing than the Buzz Rickson since Eastman is a Buzz european distributor.

My A-10s are thick, ultra hard goatskin leather, very warm, suitable for very cold weather. They are big and they take a lot of space when in the pocket.

BTW, neither my A-2 jacket or A-10 goatskin gloves broke in yet. Leather Eastman used is extremely hard.

I have to say that whilst my goat Cable was pretty stiff when i got it last year, it has softened up nicely with a lot of wear and a little artificial water treatment early doors.
However, the gloves I have are of a completely different and much softer goat and there was no appreciable breaking in necessary. Mine also have the dark chocolate knits which I personally prefer to the cherry red / Aero colour.

Gorgeous gloves... I've often look at the Eastman ones, but I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a pair of gloves. I have some great vintage leather gloves in brown that I wear in the Winter, but for the coldest of days these knit-cuff items are a great design. I have a pair already in black, civilian repros of the old British Army issue design that have long been known as "Northern Ireland Gloves", widely available for about GBP12.00 a pair. Unfortunately nobody seems to make these in brown at all or they'd be a very cost-effective alternative.

The A-10 gloves were one of the last things on my list of gotta haves when it came to USAAF flightline gear. They go great with everything. Friday night high school footballs games are alot warmer now. :eusa_clap

I used their sizing chart and came up with a 10. Perfect finger length and width. Should stretch out a bit when broken in too.

Considering you are in the UK I would think it would be a no-brainer. I paid $170 Canadian all told and I'm still happy. You have to consider expected lifetime of the gloves. For me that's 5-10 years so 17-30 dollars per year, which is peanuts.

Oh, no doubt.... I've lost gloves before now, though, and it stung an awful lot less to shell out twenty quid for a replacement pair than the guts of a ton. Qualitatively, it's also easy enough to find vintage styled leather gloves just as good for a fraction of the price - so what you're really paying a significant premium for, in my opinion, is the accuracy of the design to the USAAF spec. Great product and I wouldn't fault them, just too high an asking price for my own personal use - your mileage may vary, naturally. I hold out hope for a WPG version. ;)

I also have a pair of ELC A10 gloves, definately agree with all the comments regarding these......fantastic gloves, well made and beautiful supple goatskin (well, there are now as I have had them for a couple of years).
Mine also have the darker knits which I prefer as opposed the berry BR version plus I didn't pay anyway near the current £90 price when I bought mine, I think ELC were selling them for around £50 at the time.
Great gloves and would definately recommend them to anyone.......
