This may be me, and perhaps one for Brits, but doesn't that call to mind Playtex's old "Cross your heart bra" ad? :D

Yeah, that Roebuck's (Sears, of course) jacket design is really unique.

A lot of the big department stores, in in the United States, during the 30's, 40's, 50's and 1960's, really produced not only high quality workwear, but well designed.

The rarest ones have a zipper as well as the press-studs to fasten the front. Unfortunately, I've never seen one in my size. I keep looking though!

Here's a pic of my 60's Lee 101J. A beautiful jacket that has rarely been washed, and considering it is 50 years old, has a lovely deep blue colour

And here is a Lee 100J, which was basically a 101 but in different fabric. This one is in pale fawn cord, with pearl coloured buttons (rather than black) on the rear adjusters.

This is also from the 60's, and pretty hard to find these days. The easiest way to identify 60's jackets (from the outside) is the Lee label on the pocket flap. It should be devoid of the "MR" (marca registrada) that appeared later.

Like this....

I realize this is an OLD thread, but there are some things here that are pertinent to a purchase I made. I won an ebay auction on a Lee Rider 101-J, 48L, circa 1964. I do not believe this has EVER even been washed, the denim is that "clean". Everything, points to this being correct, but there are some lingering doubts, hopefully one of you guys with more knowledge on these will chime in. I have questions but I'll wait to see if anybody responds, thanks. This IS the tag, (this is from the vintagemotercyclejackets.com site, mine is a Long) the Lee tag on the pocket is correct (small r nothing else), there is the union made label in the pocket, the rows of stitching underneath the back of the collar.

That seems right, wcbrown. I would think that it's authentic and was manufactured in 1964. Maybe it escaped being worn due to it's larger size or just wasn't ever worn/used for whatever reason.

It looks great! Enjoy it.

Mine in a 1965 Lee 101-J. It's funny how mine has an "R" on the tag below the collar, but the "Lee" label on the left breast pocket has no "R." It's just reads: Lee.

the early ones are a bit shorter though. i am 6'4" and it just covers the belt line. the sleeves are perfect, it's just a way different cut than i am used to with the "modern" denims.

I've got two of these, 1970 & 1971, based on the labels. I also had the white one, which was older, but that went to my son, I did not care for the colour and specifically was looking for a white one.

Now yours looks fine to me. Could you specify what worries you with the jacket? If it's the length, well this one is marked long. Maybe something else?
