Another website you may look at is Baron Boutique.

With any online tailor, ask about copying a picture of a suit you have in mind (or parts of it and others), getting high armholes, and floating canvas construction. The last two should get you a decent suit of good construction.

That's until I got to the 'age' question. How is this relevant to the fit of a suit?

While the effects of age are certainly not uniform, they do tend to run in patterns. For example, a gentleman in his 70s is more likely to have a prominent midsection and a somewhat stooped posture than a fellow in his 30s. Perhaps that's all they're searching for with the "age" question.

And many don't. So why don't they ask, 'Do you have a prominent midsection and a somewhat stooped posture?'

I have (ex-military) friends in their 90s who are still slim and straight. Equally, I observe many, many young men who 'have a prominent midsection'!

Alan

When I was measured and such for my hand tailored kilt, the kiltmaker asked my age. I don't know why, either, but the kilt fits!

I also learned from that experience that I have an unusual waist-to-knee to height ratio. Another reason to get a bespoke suit, I suppose.

Maybe I'm just cheap, but where money is an issue (let's face it, that's most of us), my inclination would be to go made to measure ahead of bespoke.

No reallly? I would have guessed that UK tailors are the best address for going bespoke. Thanks for opening our eyes! :eusa_doh:

 Please if you have to spam here with advertisement at least be consistent in your story. By the way... there is a Merchants section in "Classifieds", where you can post an advertisement for "your tailor": http://www.thefedoralounge.com/forumdisplay.php?21-Merchants

I hope a bartender removes all this spam in the suits section.
