button back blouses

why why why do so many 40's blouses do up at the back?

dresses of the time sensibly did up at the side but blouses at the back, how on earth did people do them up?

is there a trick to this?

Yep, this is exactly how I would do it. Button the first few, pull it up and button the next few, then reach around the back to button the bottom ones.

I can button up without pulling anything up or down, maybe I'm a bit hypermobile. But another good advice would be to get a boyfriend who will do it.

It helps to have long arms. (Dresses that button down the back are even worse!)

Well in a lot of instances, women didnt dress alone. They would have a sister, mom, granmother, etc. to help them get dressed. I think its only recently that its become a one one one phenomenon.

I'm going to have to sell my button back dress for this very reason. I live alone and almost dislocated my shoulders trying to get it done up.
