I just watched most of episode 1 that I recorded yesterday. Interesting to see all those newsboys (working stiffs) , fedoras (G-Men) and homburgs (bosses). I much preferred the fedora on Steve B to the Homburg.

I dont know who provided all of the hats for that show but we did have a costume designer come in and buy a few caps for the show. I believe that part of it is being filmed in the Brooklyn Navy yard. I wonder who sold them the rest of the hats.

Newsday, the Long Island, NY paper, reported that part of the series was filmed in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn.

NY Times a week ago ran a similar article - the boardwalk set itself is built on a vacant lot in Greenpoint with stacks of shipping containers surrounding it to hold the green screen for matteing in the ocean views later.

Is this the homburg? Seems fine to me. If nothing else maybe a slightly taller (by 1") crown to balance it out a bit.

Cheers!

It doesn't look to big to me, just too new. It needs to be worn a bit more to fit itself to his head better.

I agree with the pinch, or a taller crown with a deeper crease.

I think the pinch is definitely a good idea for the proper look, although, is it more historically accurate without it? Just seems many old photos I've seen of those days had just the center crease without side dents.

From the look on the curl of the brim and the type of binding, the hat appears to be a Biltmore homburg.
There arent many factories today besides Biltmore, and Stetson that offer Homburgs locally.

My eye keeps being drawn to the flower.
I don't think it should have been pinned to the lapel but stuck into the button hole.
And the tie is too big.
This is set in the 20's, isn't it?

Movie hats

Baron Hats in Burbank supplies many movie and TV production hats. They do custom work, such as the hat Russell Crowe wore in 3:10 to Yuma to fake hats for big crowd scenes like those in Sea Biscuit.
