Friends,

I just picked up a nice buco j24 LOCALLY! The jacket needs some tlc, but it is very nice.
The leather is solid, and it's good fit. I will take my time in doing the needed tlc. I might need some sage advice in how to replace the zip to a period correct one. I totally hate the main zip. LOL. Also, some pulls need to be replaced.

Here are some images taken few minutes ago.

That's very, very nice! What a find there. It's certainly worth a fair bit, but moreover this one is in great shape as well.
For the repairs & possible zipper (remember originals will be worth more) I would reach out to Dena at Great Leather. She knows her stuff, is reasonable on price, and geatly appreciates these jackets.

Thanks! The jacket is in good condition. I am cleaning it and getting it ready for conditioning. Dena was a top choice for me also. I think I might be able to find an early 50's talon #5 in the same finish. However, I'm also contemplating in using a 40s/50s #10 Military talon. You know, the one with the beautiful box?

I have five Buco jackets and have sold three others. They all have or haad rectangular Talon main zips. My J-24 is wool lined and the main zip is blackened edit No 5 zips

Love that collection. Regarding this jacket the zip will need to be replaced. I have been contemplating the options. Keep it original with an early rectangular 50s #5. Or 40s-50s military #10 zip. I am including examples of what I have. I have a cloth marker in brown to change darken the fabric. Additionally, I have three different types of #10 crowns just in case? I welcome your input!

I like the paperclip pull and box. What do the crowns look like? Great jackets btw.

I hope you used the brown packaged one #5 talon. I think is a perfect match. The military #10 with the quick released is something else.
