Happy holidays to everyone!

Does anyone know the original color of the zippers used in the buco jackets? I have seen some photos of the original and they appear to be brown to me.
I am in the process of putting together a special buco BROWN j24 from the lost worlds. I am supplying an original # 10 spring loaded crown zipper. Additionally, I have both brown and black zippers for the pockets in size #5. The blacks are in all (pulls & teeth) brass talons. The crown zippers are browns in very flat silver teeth and grayish pulls.

Which route should I go? Do I want to keep it all the same brand? or period correct. By the way, I also have some very cool 40'S #10 in brass on light brown tape.

Feedback is very welcome!

Congrats on a fine choice. Lost Worlds rocks. From experience I would go with the heaviest zipper you like- you will thank me in the future!
Are you going with the russet fqhh ? Great color. I personally would go with black tape brass zipper- but, an individual choice and matter of taste.
I also personally would not mix brass and silver zippers but not a big deal.

Thanks for the advice!

I am going for the brown at this time. However, I do want a black one. My daughter has already taken my lw j 24 in black.

Friend, Can I ask you how long is your front zipper? I am also getting a 44. The zipper I have is a little longer than needed. I also want to keep the original stop that came with the jacket. I can post samples of the zippers if anyone is interested.

Those original zippers you have may not last very long. The cotton zipper tape is compromised with age, when stacked against Stus heavy horsehide they’re basically guaranteed to fail at some point. I believe A-1 learned this the hard way with the NOS zips on his diamond Dave j-24 and the Shinki used on his jacket is far more forgiving than Stu’s heavy horsehide. Personally I’d stick to repro zips in such a heavy jacket, but ymmv.

Interesting! I did read much of A-1 long j-21 tread. Thanks for your feedback.
