I've thought a lot about this ribbon width question of taste, and I think looking at these pictures has made me realize something. It isn't just a question of wide or thin, it's a question of how does the ribbon work with the whole appearence. Like ties. Some wide ties are great, some thinner ones work, too. It depends on how well integrated the ribbon is with the hat as a whole. Elsewhere, it has been stated that wider ribbons are more formal, thin ribbons, less so. Perhaps. Just wanted to share an observation.

I have three hats left that are definitely from the '20s. (I've sold two others.) One is a panama homburg; the other is a grey Stetson with a black ribbon; and the final one is a black Stetson. I've posted photos of the first two; the Stetson still needs to be photographed. Its shape is a cross between these two:
