a belt without pleats is a bit of a redundant feature though. i feel the point of the belt is to give that extra 'nipped in' look to the back which happens in tandem with the fullness of the pleats.

(no disrespect to Freddie's suit intended ;) )

p.s. if it's just the stripes distorting that bothers you, there's always the option of a centre box pleat which keeps the stripes parallel:

(in this case they haven't matched the stripes through the belt, but it could be done).

Thanks for the comments guys, it is a bit of an unusual suit. Totally agree with you HBK I think the back does look rather plain without pleats. I have a plain dark blue suit like the jacket you posted hbk with 2 box pleats and a back belt.

Also noteworthy that they didn't stock anything bigger than a 42.

I think the squareness of the pockets works particularly well with the peak lapel version.
