This is a fascinating piece about a woman, who died unknown in 2008, who may have been one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century.

it gives me hope that the person who saved this collection is a young person who understands the importance of saving the past. i mean...he's even saving her clothing.

Some nice photos. Not sure about the claim on 'being possibly one of the best photographers of the 20th C. ' but definitely had 'an eye' for an interesting street photo. Thanks for sharing and glad they were saved for others and future generations to enjoy :) A Good News story to start the Year!

I clicked on the link not sure what to expect. But when her photos began to show on my screen, I instantly started smiling. I was blown away. Amazing story about a fascinating lady and her work.

It's amazing what can be buried away under the years and dust. And I also found it touching that this young man felt passionate enough to save and share her work.

I don't know, Paddy...her portraits are stunning...worthy of critical praise, in my opinion. I didn't so much like her group or architectural photos...but her portraits were powerful. :)

She really had a great eye, but looking through the pictures I was struck by the fact that even the bums of the era were better dressed than 90% of todays population.

Very good article.

So she was an amateur! doing her hobby, in a wonderful way, to herself.

This make me think about how many really good things just desapeared in shelves, ou throw away by families, etc, after the death of the photographer (something very usual, specially with negatives... Or with photographs with no-family subjects).
