Breaking in Wesco Boss Boots

Received my Wescos a few days ago and have been wearing them non-stop to break them in. I have small feet so they're size 7.5 D I found at Big Black Boots. The size 8 D boots I got directly from Wesco were too large and are now FS here and on the Bay. The 7.5's fit nice and snugly with thick socks and seem to be breaking in well. But, they are heavy, and the sole is so stiff. Just wondering from those of you with these or other high quality engineer boots, how long it took for them to truly become comfy. Just so you know, I was so taken with them, i ordered a custom pair from Wesco in Brown. Oh, BTW, what socks do you all use with high boots? I have over the calf socks from Darn Tough, WigWam, and Smart Wool. None of them stay up. I hate the feeling of the boot shaft rubbing against my shins.

They will always be heavy... Single midsole? Vibram outsole ? It will take a lot of wear for those puppies to flex.

Depends on how much walking you do. Just wearing wont do it. I always put a bunch of mink oil on my work boots when new and that seems to help. I spend 16hrs a day in my redwings and theyre usually broken in within a week. Wearing them watching tv wont do it. They have to move.

I bought my first pair of Wesco Boss boots a little over a year ago and they definitely took some getting used to! As you mentioned, the heavy lugged Vibram sole seemed very stiff and jarring at first. After a few weeks though, I found the boots were much more comfortable to wear. I think this was partly because the leather had loosened up a bit and allowed the boots to flex more than when they were brand-new. Also, I had gotten used to the heavy duty Vibram sole and the way it felt on the pavement. Now these are my favorite boots and I wear them every chance I get

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just have to wear the heck out of them; like my Aero! Yes, I do walk a lot in them.
BTW, they're the single midsole, Vibram 100 outersole. The leather is awesome. These things should last a good long time.

They will last longer than you. I had two pairs of wesco over the years and got sizing wrong twice.

If I remember correctly the boss with lug sole was more flexible than the jobmaster on 700 sole which literally didn't bend for the entire 6 months until I admitted they were too tight.

Someone beat me to it, Wesco Engineer Boots aren't going to get lighter with use (maybe your leg muscles will grow?)

Do you want to look good or be comfortable? They're largely mutually exclusive lol...

It should not take more than a month to feel comfy. Although there still may be some minor breakin after that point. Yeah I've discovered that most boots are designed for thicker socks. The exception being like my Danner Mountain Pass boots which are designed to fit like shoes....
