breaking in a new a-2 horsehide

just got a new A-2 horsehide jacket from gibson barnes....nice jacket not to still like u.s. mfg lol.......how fast will the jacket break in anything i can put on it like loction or some thing.........i know some people here wash there jacket i am not that carzy lol thanks people..

Wearing the jacket is the best way to break it in.

Whatever you do, don't put anything on the leather, except maybe water. It shouldn't need any type of preservative for many years. You can roll it up and sit on it to soften the leather. You can put it under the mattress in a different position each night while you sleep. While you are watching TV you can wear it and constantly flex your arms to soften the bend in the elbow. You can put it in the dryer on a no heat tumble setting with a damp wash cloth. Anything you can do to get the leather bending and moving will hasten the break in process.

More importantly, as Feraud said, wear it. This time of year you can wear it just about all the time, even while inside the house. The more you wear it, the more it will break in. And, congratulations on your purchase.
