That was also my thought, i think gold label ones have the teardrop pullers, but i am pretty sure i have seen black/red label ones with ring pullers. Saying that the Kehoe posted above has the correct pullers, so who knows.

Kehoe is a bit different. I've never seen one without zippers at the top of the sleeves. I think they've purposely pushed this feature as to distinguish their jackets from Brooks and the rest of the competition. But truth is, anything is possible. Anyway, Brooks literally had just about every zipper pull I can think of, from Tear-drop to Chain, regular square tab and I've seen some even with Diamond pulls. But you're right, gold/yellow label ones started off with teardrop and that's what most jackets have.

I'm 110% sure it's Brooks and pretty sure it's a 70's Brooks and maybe black/red tab model but that's I'm guessing. Something about the back.

Better to spend the $850 -- the quality of the jacket is directly related to the price paid and, even with the identical jacket, if you pay more, you get a better quality product.

That is rare indeed - I never really noticed until now that the teardrop pull is so prevalent with Brooks! - but I have seen them with chain pull zippers, too. There are some listed on eBay rn. It's either the only Kehoe with seam sleeve zips and this collar config that I've seen or Brooks with chain pulls.

What's that third brand that used the same action back design? Fidelity & Schott did regular C shaped gussets... Brooks and Kehoe had the same back.

AMF cr was just a re-branded Brooks and I think they did jackets for Sears as well at some point? So, they could've used the chain pulls for the either of these.

"vintage smell" cured in Perth Western Australia by a cool wash/top loader, Eucalyptus woolwash with no spin.

laid "upright" in the bath on a bath towel overnight , hung out on an appropriate hanger IN THE SHADE to air dry.

Sometimes for 3 days , turned inside out a coupla times over those days.

RM Williams leather conditioner thereafter and another "2 day hangout" and Robert's yer mother's brother.

Used (amongst others) on a Schott 637 and an Excelled café racer fairly recently.

Strewth! I've never paid more than about 1/8th of that cost.

That's the "celebrity endorsement tax".

Damn it... now I want to get mine out. It is in storage at another house and there is a travel ban in my town.

It makes me itchy for a nice 'blue label' Aero Board Racer. Thing is, while cafe racers always look great, any time I've actually owned one in the past, they just didn't sit right on me if I wore anything with a collar, which is 99.9% of what I wear. Maybe one day I'll order one up with a collar - or just stick to the Original 59er HM instead! Much as I adore a nice half belt with a detailed back, there's also something particularly nice about these sorts of very utilitarian designs in a nice hide that really appeals.

Johnson Leathers can do it. That is who shortened my sleeves (on a Brooks Cafe Racer). Not cheap (maybe $150, if not a bit more?), but it isn't your average sleeve shortening job with the zippers. I also had the windflap removed. That was pretty expensive and if I were in the situation again, I would take Seb's advice and just cut it off myself.

Some might think it isn't cost effective to put alteration money in a cheap Brooks jacket, but mine fits perfectly now, looks great, and I've long forgotten the cost.

Copy that. Thanks. I asked because I know that kind of cuffs with leather underneath the zippers are a lot trickier to fix. With patience, time and the right amount of money the sailors can do almost anything, I guess.

Thanks Terry, it definitely looks like one of those. Replace the pullers by ring-shaped ones and bob’s your uncle. Maybe they made that change to mislead us, leather jacket lovers.

I have almost bought the current version of this pattern by Brooks which is almost the same. Also the Vanson Mohawk uses this pattern too. But both of these alternatives use a much thicker, probably better leather so it kind of looses the charm of the original thin and expressive steerhide for me.
