Bought a new, odd daily beater...

Have never seen one of these before, and I liked the whole concept.
I'll post some pix when the jacket arrives.
Does anyone have experience with how Avirex fit in general?
I figured if it's too small, I can always flip it.

My thoughts too! She sent me many other pix via email, and I sorta fell in love with it. As with my watches, I like odd ones that are harder to find. Plus, I need some instant gratification while contemplating these customs that may take months to get!

Well that's a loaded question. Keep in mind his bike is about as far as you can get from a showroom stock bonnie. Cripes, look at his screen name! Beautiful machine... probably give a modern supersport a run for its money.

Butte... captain answered for me, my Bonneville T100 is as far as you can go from stock.Having said that the stock Bonneville/T100/Thruxton are great Triumph's that it will give you years of fun and satisfaction, very reliable, economical ,cheap maintenance with no oil leaks like you just well said. Not many in the used market, so resale value it's very good as well.Hope this help.

One thing to keep in mind is the stock suspension leaves much to be desired. Swapping the rear shocks on my thruxton for some Ikons made a world of difference. Otherwise, no complaints. Looks cool, handles well enough, and has adequate power.

I don't keep bikes stock long, so I can appreciate the upgrades. And, given my size, suspension bits almost always get swapped first!

Well, it arrived today. Beautiful, heavy, shiny leather. Really glad I bought it. Avirex seems a little shorter in the sleeves than Schott's I have, but I think it's ok. Only feels a little short if I outstretched my arms in exaggerated fashion.
I will take pix. It is extremely heavy and well made seems like it should last a lifetime. Looked everywhere online, and could not find anything like it, so it appears to indeed be a rarer find.
Like my watches, I enjoy odd, rarer pieces that I won't see on someone else.

Good call getting a beater jacket, and it sounds like a nice one to boot! A buddy of mine had a $500+ leather jacket stolen from the coat check at a club in New York City. Ever since then, I've held onto my $150 "mall leather" jacket for those instances when I don't want to put my nicer jackets at risk.

The Avirexes I've seen, much like Schott's offerings, were generally quite nice jackets quality-wise. How's the fit? B-15 blousy, or a trimmer cut?

Definitely "blousy". And probably just as well. Not so much 'cause I'ma fatty (although I could lose a few) but because I wanted one I could wear a sweater or sweatshirt under in the winter time.
It's very well made. Leather is shiny and thick. Pockets are all heavy canvas-lined. the patch on the shoulder is not sewn, but also leather - lamb?
The only thing as compared to my larger Schott's is that the zipper could be beefier. I think she said this was from 1997, and was in a garment bag/closet, so that might explain why my newer big military jackets have much beefier zips.
All in all, I have to say it's very nice - and at $224, you can't touch anything decent. It literally is brand new too - no exaggeration there.
I shall get some pix post haste. The wife has the good Canon out today, so hopefully tonight.

Oh, and BTW, my son got a vintage '30s Horsehide jacket that is BEAUTIFUL from my father-in-law. He was in WWII, and a smallish guy. My son is 17, and wirey. Fits him like a glove, and it's a score. Have not heard of the brand, but I plan on posting some pix of it too. Similar in style to the Aeor Highwayman. Good week here
