Some great looks already posted.

Late 1950s American tweed sportcoat, brown tweed with a red square overlay. One of my favorite sportcoats.

Bespoke cashmere tweed, green with blue square overlay, belted, action back sportcoat with box pockets I had made a couple of years ago. Probably will put this up in the classified section soon since I'm cleaning out the closet...

For love of the tweed continued, I love plus fours and shooting jackets...

Great set of no name plus fours:

My favorite tweed shooting jacket made by R H Mears, with a great set of 1967 vintage Moss Brothers plus twos.

My tweed centerpiece, a 1970s vintage 3 piece Derby tweed shooting suit by Hebden Cord. I've not used it while shooting driven pheasant... yet...

Anytime old boy, anytime, what, what.

In all seriousness, most likely I will not go again until next fall (2012). There is a nice shoot I've gone to a couple of times south of Paris, and I'd like to head back next November or so. Time and money allowing of course...

Alright, my maiden post! Exposure to good looking tweeds was at least part of what attracted me to FL to begin with, so it only seems appropriate.
Having seen about a thousand pictures of politicians and economists from the first half of the 20th century wearing three piece tweed suits, I set about trying to track one down and wound up buying this one on eBay. I haven't actually seen it as I'm in Uganda at present, but I'm looking forward to having it when I get home.

Any Peace Corps volunteer and aspiring economist worth his salt aspires to channel Indiana Jones. The color scheme is obviously quite different but the intent is there. I'll get back to putting together a full closet of such things when I get home.

I've yet to commit any deposits for the coming autumn. What would the shooting run?

There's been some superb tweed here, keep it coming all!

I've taken the time to photograph some of mine.

First up is a John Wanamaker Harris Tweed jacket I obtained from the Baron.
Minimal lining means I'm able to wear this on even hot days. I love the material, the pattern is beautiful and versatile.

This is a modern-ish one by Horne Brothers (so probably pre-1993).

Here's a nice tweed (keeper cloth) 'Master Magee' hacking jacket by Magee 'Tailored exclusively for Robert Smart' , where I bought the jacket about 14 years ago, 'of York'.

I'll try to get some 'fuller' shots later

I agree - that Sept 1940-dated Kaufmann suit is amazing. Now that's what I call a tweed suit!

On an offshoot, I have wanted to get a tweed suit for ages - can anyone recommend a brand?
I also have some tweed trousers- they're only half lined and I want to get these fully lined- any suggestions as to what I should line these with?

Well, for a full tweed suit, Bookster seems to be highly recommended. Horwood and Shaw show some good looking suits as well.

Agreed, as mentioned my suit above is Bookster (http://www.tweed-jacket.com/), one piece of advice on the trousers though, they do run slightly slim on the legs.

I would also suggest a visit to http://www.dress2kill.com/ if you have the money to spend - they have a great selection of tweeds on offer and you can quite often get a discount voucher in the Evening Standard. The service and staff are great too.

Some of my keepers.

Late 1930s American Drape sports coat. Fits like a glove.

Note the small black specks throughout.

Though it doesn't really fit me, I'm keeping this 1930s sportscoat. It has two breast pockets and all four pockets are pleated. An amazing jacket with great tweed.

Blurry but gives you an idea of the pleating.
