Oh yeah, on the grey Lightweight. I love that logo.
If you had said, "that art nouveau logo" I'd have known
what you meant. Wonder if any of those fine stores
still exist. I harbor fantasies of buying hats at Italian
fleamarkets...

feltfan- this is it on mine. it's a bit diffent. Also- mine was sold through a DC store, who's logo is on the sweatband. odd.

Feltfan , I've been to Italy many times . I 've been to quite a few flea markets looking for hats and the selection is not great .
The best place that I've seen for hats was in Amsterdam a few years ago . There were many markets and vintage stores . I had to buy another suitcase just for the hats that I found. My wife thought I was nuts .

Actually, it brings up a little Borsalino mystery, which I was
alluding to in my earlier post about the Minelli store. Notice that
the Borsalino liner in your hat, in my Pocket Hat, and in Douglas'
Pocket hat is not simply a Borsalino liner, as you would find in
a Stetson or a Mallory or a Lock or a Stevens or whathaveyou.
Borsalino co-labels with some of its stores with integrated graphics
on the liner. It appears that certain models, such as the Pocket Hat,
are exclusive to a particular store; perhaps they are designed together.
But we don't have enough data points to be certain.

Clearly, BTW, most models are not exclusive to a particular store, so the only
thing we can know for certain is that some Italian Borsalino dealers
had the privilege, for some reason, of using special liners carrying both
their name and that of Borsalino. It would be interesting to know if
it was standard practice in Italian hat stores of old to do significantly
more styling than was done in American hat stores. Or if this was
just a stylish marketing ploy of Borsalino's.

Steven, you may be nuts, but it's catching.
Okay, I wanted to return to A'dam some time
soon anyway... But I will visit Italy again, too.
After all, what's the worst that could happen?
I gain 10 pounds?

BTW, I'll be in NYC the latter half of December
and look forward to visiting your shop if possible.
And before jamespowers organizes a looting trip to
Oakland, I will be leaving the alarm on!

Darn! :p I'll have to get ahold of those guys that test people's alarm systems and tell them it is my house. "Break in and tell me where my security is lacking." ;)

Regards,

J

DOUGLAS, that is yet again another wonderful hat! Your clothes in the photo are perfect too. There isn't a Smilie that's bowing down so I'll just use this one::eusa_clap . I hope you never go broke from your hat habit I'm enjoying looking at your "riches" too much!

I have not seen many of this type on the market. I am very glad that I have found one. It being in great shape is the bonus.
