Borsalino logo

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Love hats. I only own two brands, one is Borsalino and the other one is Guerra 1855. I also Own three Montecristi hats that I bought in Pile, the small town in the coast of Ecuador (I'm Ecuadorian) from Simon Espinal master weaver. My question: I've been trying to find out some information about the Borsalino logo that comes printed on the bow. I own a Como I purchased from Stanley at Bencraft and it doesn't have this golden lettering. I saw the same hat at JJ hat center and the logo was there. Any ideas about when Borsalino started stamping it on the bow? Could one tell the age of the hat based on this? Thank you very much. As a presentation card I'm including a picture of my newest hat, a gorgeous Guerra 1855 (Venezia) I purchased from my good friend and hat guru Orlando Palacios at Worth & Worth here in NYC

I believe that Borsalino began the heinous practice of stamping their advertisement/logo on the ribbon just within the last few years...

Thanks all for the replies. I will take pictures of my montecristi hats when I get back home from work. Orlando is doing great, his shop is quite a success and his hats are amazing. You guys should check him out!

Borsalino gives the store owner the choice as to whether or not a logo should be printed on the bow of the hat. Most of our hats donot have them . Howeber many people think that if the hat does not have the "Borsalino" stamp on the hat, it isn't real. I find that most Europeans prefer the logo on the hat.

That is interesting - that Europeans want to have the manufacturer brand name visible on the exterior of the clothing. There is a parallel with men's suits; often, the brand/label is shown on the lower sleve, but it is lightly tacked on - we Americans snip them off, but other cultures proudly show off these labels, similar to the way young people are proud to wear shirts that clearly state 'Hilfiger.' I was brought up to think of these external labels as 'tacky' (poor taste), but maybe the times are a'changing on us old folks.

Showing off lables is also considered bad taste, over here. Some manufacturers of off the shelf stuff do not pay this attitude credit or are aiming for a mass market after having lost their style and quality sensitive clientel.
