Borsalino Alessandra Fedora

So some days you just get lucky and I run into this Borsalino Alessandra, along with three more candidates for the find of the month or probably year, all three with similarly fine felt.

This one I'm keeping. The felt on this hat is just magnificent. Thin yet soft perfectly felted smooth, it's just a ecstatic experience for one who really appreciates fine felts. I figure that I was one of the mad hatters in a past life.

Any way, this hat is just a bit too small for me, but the sweat band is gone anyway so it's going in for an refurb and a new sweat in a slightly larger size.

So without further adoo...

Statistics are brim is 2 7/8", crown about 4 1/2, and a 3/8 ribbon.

It's always nice to find a Borsalino. May I inquire as to where you found it (thrift or second hand store, estate sale, etc) and how much you paid? I found one at a thrift store in beautiful shape last year for 3 dollars and change. No liner, but otherwise perfect. Actually, not sure if it ever had one...

I searched for a Borsalino Thread, but couldn't find it, so thanks Alan. Is it possible to move it, Mods?

Thanks RJR and Moehawk.

This Borsalino and three other hats were found at an Antique store, and the price was considerably above what you paid for yours Moehawk, but still reasonable. This is Cowboy country here so cowboy hats are the norm and true fedoras are difficult to come by, so 4 of them, and all such stellar hats, you can see why I'm celebrating.

The sweatband is long gone, but for a few bucks it can be replaced and the felt looks great so it will be a great looking hat. The vintage borsys have awesome felt.
