My other big hobby, fountain pens, hats lots of good written resources, both general and specific. There are books on repairs, history, manufacture, and specific brands -- many very well illustrated and some well written. Are there equivalent sources concerning vintage hats? Specifically overviews of men's hat makers in the US in this century, the manufacturing of hats, and hat repairs and adjustments?

You've probably already heard of "Hatless Jack," which follows the history of hat wearing in the U.S. (and touches on the history of the hat in other countries, suck as Turkey).

There's also a book, I believe currently out of print, "Scientific Hat Finishing and Renovating" by Henry L. Ermatinger. You can often find it on eBay.

I'm sure others who are more knowledgeable than I have other titles they can recommend.
