Book o' wool

Just recieved my new book of wool fabrics from 1932... salesman samples... dozens of swatches. They make quite a mockery of the fabrics I have on hand from Holland and Sherry who sent me dozens of their own wools in their heaviest weights. Even Holland and Sherry's overcoat materials are not near the stiffness and weight of the stuff from the 30s... Anywho, the whole book of fabrics is cool. Prices and drawings and all.

I'll get pics up soon.

I have a couple of sample books from the 30s. Some of them are missing the fabric samples - just a yellowed sqare of old glue, but the ones that do have fabric are astonishing. The suiting is so heavy that - in this weather - I can only think of how hot they'd be. Of course, there were no polyester linings then, which are probably even hotter.

I'm looking forward to the pics.

i visited Dormeuil fabrics the last time i was in London. the heaviest fabric they do is 18oz.
that's COAT weight. not suit weight.

Matt, are there any weights given in ounces on the samples ? if so what is a good heavy weight ?

thanks.
