He was a size 7, I think?
Even if it's not his hat, it's very nice. What does an authenticated autograph of his look like?

There was a Miller Fine Hats of Denver. I have a couple of
their westerns.

Looks like a Cavanagh edge, not a bound edge, to me.

Yeah, I saw that when it posted and I referenced H.B.'s autograph and tried to compare but I couldn't see enough of the signature in the hat to form an opinion.

Experts agree there have been lots of fake Bogie sigs over the years and that even in his time, his secretary signed some things on his behalf.

Who knows?

I'm no autograph hound but it would be nice for the seller and buyer if there could be a way to authenticate this piece.

Looks like a nice hat at that price. Whoever won it can enjoy wearing it. I wonder if it's possible to determine where the hats worn in Casablanca came from. Without a provenance the Bogart assertion is dubious at best.

I'll bet it's connected with Miller Stockman, a Denver-based western wear company. Phillip Miller was a hat salesman before starting Miller Stockman as a catalog outfit.

Yep, Bogart's hats in both Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon have Cavanagh Edges (well, in the second case, a Mode Edge;) ), so this particular hat wasn't featured in Casablanca. At least, I don't remember him wearing a bound edge hat in any of his scenes. It might be a hat he wore in some other film, or it might be someone else's hat that he autographed, assuming the autograph is actually his.

CORRECTION: Nice score Rick!

We'll all be eager to hear the back-story on this one. A good project for the History Detectives?
