Steve, Looks great! I really like these lighter weight straw weaves.Circa 1920s/30s London Boater with a bon ton ivy sweatband sold in a Copenhagen hat shop.
Worn with a vintage Ben Sherman Beatles shirt.

Thanks SteveSteve, Looks great! I really like these lighter weight straw weaves.
Cool find, Matt. Love it.German boater ("Kreissäge") of unknown brand
The label looks familiar to me, but I haven't been able
to make the connection to a manufacturer yet.
"Hemdenmatz" should be the seller/wholesaler
(It's a nickname for a small child wearing only a shirt;
but it's also funny because my nickname is Matze)
crown height at 9 cm, brim at 5 cm
The hat itself with the black hat band, the bow treatment
and also the weaving is nothing very special,
but rather the standard boater as it was common
in Central Europe in the 20s and 30s...
What makes it special, however, is the bon ton ivy sweatband
and the wind cord; the hat is also in (almost) unworn condition
and fits me like a glove (I had to search for a long time...)

A really nice find, Marcel. Always extra nice when they have the Bon Ton Ivy stitching.I already wanted a boater, so now i had the change to buy one. Not in 100% mint condition (picture no 5), but i took the change.
I think it suits me very well haha. Let the summer begin.....

I have an old Yeddo boater that had the original ribbon falling apart. It was time for a replacement so I took off the old ribbon and found just how much the ribbon had changed colors over the decades. The side that was showing was beige and a tan/golden color. The backside had a beautiful green stripe on top and bottom with the same color pin stripes in the middle. I bet it was awesome.

Nice, did you take off the new ribbon from another hat or did you created it yourself?I have an old Yeddo boater that had the original ribbon falling apart. This is a real beauty! I am fairly certain the straw braids were not made in the United States. Are there paper labels behind the sweatband? Can you take photos? Also photos of the entire liner plus sweatband. Also marks on the sweatband. I believe the word under the stag is "DIROGO"? The initials under the "Quality Supreme" are most likely the Hat Company that made it. Looks like "M" "H" "Co". I will see if I can find anything on the braid type. I have some information but not sure when I can get around to looking through it. My focus is the German and Austrian Hat Industries.Hello Boater faction! I am new to the group and trying to learn a bit. My husband is curious about these hats and I picked up one the other day. It is a bit different that I thought they looked like. Mine has layers on the brim that make it bend-- is that better/more commonly what you would want to grab? I was really impressed by the pattern they managed with the straw.
I also cannot seem to find any information on the brand inside, using Google Lens. There is a size sticker, 7 1/8 that says Made in America. View attachment 692464
I managed a few more photos. The straw seems so delicate! This is a real beauty! I am fairly certain the straw braids were not made in the United States. Are there paper labels behind the sweatband? Thanks! Unfortunately not any company mark. I would recommend 1900 to 1930 American Hatter volumes (available on Google Books). They will have listings of Hat and Straw Hat Companies. Look for companies that might match "M" "H" "Co" or some combination. Also the "DIROGO" mark.I managed a few more photos. The straw seems so delicate!
There is no writing on with side of the brown leather. I did find a couple of tags under the netting - just numbers.
