I've had this Knox Premier for a little while now. Love this hat! The sweatband is VERY comfortable. I always thought boater hats just rested on the top of your head, so I was reluctant to start collecting them. This sits just right without resting on my head. This was before I swapped the ribbon...

Crown Height - 3 1/2"
Brim Width - 2 3/8"
Ribbon (former) - 1 3/4"

I used the hooks from the former black ribbon to attach it. I just love the bold stripes, and I nailed the criss cross pattern on the ribbon fold! :thumb:

Thank you for the reply. I wondered if you would have any idea of approximately when the hat was made? Also, if anybody knew anything about the Cornell hat company in general.? Many thanks.

I don't find a reference to Cornell Hats that seems likely to be connected... could refer to a maker, reseller or retailer. There was a J.G. Cornell mentioned in a 1921 edition of the American Hatter who was a NY sales agent for the Young Hat Company.

This construction could have been made from the 1920s to 1940. My guess is the later side of that time span, but that is only a guess.

I searched quite a bit myself and came up with nothing. I agree with you that it's probably late '30's or early "40's, but again, that's just a guess. I paid 35 dollars for the hat 4 years ago. It's my size so I was lucky. Thank you for trying.

You cannot see it, but the liner is a 'floating' liner (gap between it and the roof of the lid) that allows the air to flow around your melon! Simple & effective.
