It's very easy to over heat with the flaps down. I only put down my flaps when the temperature reaches below -20 degree Celsius.

I actually have one close to that. I wear it when I'm hiking/snowshoeing in the woods when it's below 5°. I go a bit lighter when it gets above that. Mine isn't an expensive one though.
