Here is some silent film on VMF214. It show how staged these news reals were, with the men going into the ready room, then running out like a scramble, complete with parachutes, which they never did! My favorite, is the footage with Boyington trying to mount up, he apparently was hung over big time, and as you can see, almost fell off the Corsair!
