Black Sheep Hat Works

Have you decided what you want yet? Custom or one of Bob's creations?

If I order another it will have to be a tall, wide brimmed version of Bob's Imperial... like black cherry, sateen finish, and again with the Pinnacle edge.
I have his Passport model in a grey Tonak heather. My new order is for a duplicate of it except for the "lichen" coloured heather. Lichen is an unusual colour and at this point I don't have room for another standard grey or brown coloured hat. I was hesitant to get back in the queue until I saw a picture of this Lichen colour and that pushed me over the edge......granted I am easily pushed!

Thought I would share an upcoming project.

Here are some recent component arrivals for the 1917 "Breakers" Mallory project.

(Victorian era mother of pearl brown shoe buttons, a sweet bolt of old silk ribbon and a modern Tonak cream cloche body).

All that's left now is the liner which will likely be this gold embroidered royal blue dupioni silk

That is going to be a totally fantastic hat, a work of art.

Had a visit with Bob this afternoon. Also picked up some refurb projects:

This one was based off the 1917 Mallory "Breakers" model

Absolutely fabulous, Garrett. Bob's work is second to none and the designs are incredible. Truly awesome.

So it does seem people are getting their hats from Bob? I placed a down payment Aug 2018. I haven’t heard a thing since we decided on the color. I’ve sent emails, nothing. Apparently someone else who saw Facebook posts was wondering about his order. Chatted with that person and they said it’s been 2.5 years since sending payment. Are they just misplacing orders? 2 years is a long time to wait to not have anything or even be able to get a response.

If that’s how long his queue is and he’s upfront about it than that’s just the way it is. However, if he’s not responding to emails that’s another matter. Art at VS would sometimes respond with just a sentence fragment, but he always responded promptly. No one is too busy to be polite or to offer some basic customer service. If he’s that busy he shouldn’t be accepting new orders...that’s how I see it.

The wait is the reason I won’t place an order with BSHW even though I really like Bob’s work.
Good luck.

I got told he is targeting 12 months when I placed the down payment. I have a hat from him that took over a year, and I expected a wait, but 2 years and zero communication since like October of 2018 doesn’t seem right. I even used the form on his site to check for an update and received no response. I certainly don’t want to shame a business or anything. He does amazing work, but I’m just trying to find out if people are receiving orders and when they may have been placed. Based on his FB page and some people’s comments it seems their hats are in progress or ready to send, and ordered well after mine.

Just in case others were wondering:
According to Bob you can’t get a Pinnacle Edge in conjunction with any of his hand dyed colors; it’s one or the other.

Bob is currently still quoting 12 months...I hope that’s close, but it doesn’t sound like from some of the recent comments here.
