Black Christmas cards

BinkieBaumont

Rude Once Too Often
I was sitting in the drawing room writing in my christmas cards, when my chum Lady Meagan "me again" Fontesque-Smyth droped by to show off her new "Champagne rinse" and "Marcel Wave" (in her hair)

"Darling Binkie! Black is too funeral for words, for a Christmas card, Easter, perhaps,.... do admit"

I was rather upset I thought my choice of a black Flock card with a silver bauble on it, would stand out on anyones matlepiece!!! amongs all that red. and white.

Is basic black wrong?

Not at all. It's a matter of how it's done, is all. Black can be dreary and somber, but it can also be dignified and festive. Post a photo if you can so that we may congratulate or deride you, as appropriate.

Black with silver sounds rather nice to me, but if you find yourself agreeing with her, why not a charcoal grey? If someone gives you a hard time you can say it's the color of Santa's bum after a hard day of work.

Bah, what does she know? she don't even speak propper toff lingo!

Now if she'd called your card "funereal" one might accord her a little more respect ;)

Awesome card! Got a bit of respectable atomic going for it. Would love to receive a card like that. And Would probably even keep that one long after Christmas unlike most I receive.

Dit dah is so right.

I love that card. Who says you have to have any particular color of anything!

Besides, it's very you.

Red and white is the traditional northern climate solstice color because of the holy druidic magic mushroom, the amanita (eat too much and you don't live to new years). So should we all eat poisonous mushrooms rto be traditional?

Hmmm. It's a bit 'Nightmare Before Christmas' for my tastes, old bean!

I think that's what I like about it. Of course, I am using the leftover black candles from halloween in my holiday decor. So maybe I'm not a neutral party to the discussion.

We simply must see your decorations. Are the candles wrapped in silver tinsel? :)

Fabulous card. Black and silver are also, in my opinion, neutral hues which will go well with the interior decor of any recipient, should they wish to display said card upon their mantlepiece.

I think they are delightfully different. Just a smidge eccentric. I would rather receive one of your cards than a "comic" card showing Santa's butt-crack. (Oops, too vulgar for FL? Edit as needed) errr...the narrow Y shaped area separating the twin, fat filled protuberences on Santa's posterior? I say flout the narrow confines of Christmas tradition. This year black -- next year, holly bedecked skulls!
