Has anyone here bought the Akubra Federation in black? Got any pictures of it, or of similar (Fedoras in general) in black? I am seriously thinking of getting myself one, but haven't seen many examples. Thanks.

Black Federation

I have not seen or heard of anyone on this forum or any other concerning a black Federation. However, there is a picture of a black version on the Direct Hats website.

I do have a black Akubra Bogie I bought on Ebay but I am not a black hat kind of guy. I prefer browns and grays.

BLACK FEDERATION

You sure this color is not a special order? I've never seen one available from stock in black.

Hatsdirect does still have the regular Federation in both black and Carbon gray (according to the website.)
I have a deluxe in the carbon gray (no longer available, and sorry, no good pics) and I'd have to say that black is a tough color to dress with.
I find that it doesn't really go well with most of my clothes, jackets. I'm an earth tone kind of guy.

You might want to think about a dark gray. It would probably go with more things then black.
Oh, and the Carbon gray is VERY VERY dark gray, almost black.

The one thing a Black hat can truely be worn with,
is if you have a white tux, and wear black wingtips, and pants with it.
Ive been in that situation, and its really the only way i can wear a black hat my self. It really all just depends on what colors fit you.

I have one of the black ones and I agree that its tough to dress with. I like the look of it and i can wear it with my black suits and such, but you HAVE to wear a bright tie and you still run the risk of the undertaker/hitman look.

Which works on me of course ! :cool2:

Will try to post pix of it for you .

Which are you? ;) I happen to like wear one around with my jeans and maybe with a black leather jacet when I get one. It also looks real good with a dark blue/navy suit if you get the colors right.
