BK Durable "The Wild One" One Star Double Rider

I think @Edward sorta hit on it. Make a jacket so insanely priced, nobody will order it. No back orders, nobody complaining, just a really nice jacket that nobody can argue over. Is it the best? Probably nobody will ever know as there are likely few educated folks who would spend that with BK. Who knows, maybe someone will buy it and post up nice pics - right before BK proclaim that they have a newer, better hide that nobody else can get and it's gonna shame the first one.

Guys, it's not that insanely priced. Real McCoy Buco J-24 is £1,545.00 and people buy it. There are members on this forum who bought it. RMC J-100 is £1,200.00. Himel J-1000 is over two thousand dollars. Goodwear Buco is a grand. I mean sure it's insanely priced, but no more than most other jackets we talk about here.

Schott should've made this... Just the pattern would do.

The Aero Motorcycle Jacket - aka "Marlon Brando" ... a significantly poorer version of this in terms of replication, a GREAT jacket, just a poorer replica ... $945 ( the indian Ranger $1000 )
Goodwear's Californian Racer ..... $1549
Himel "Heron" $2000 ( the Bison A-1 is $2250 )

.... I have to say ( as I have stated many times before) I find ALL of these jackets insanely priced ..... I struggle with an A2 at over £500 FFS ...... but the BK certainly doesn't feel out of sync with the current pricepoint ... it's a GREAT copy of an iconic jacket ( but it is a "copy").

John Lever once pointed out on VLJ ... when a Repro starts to cost more than an original then theres something a little bit awry in the market ....... in 2010 I bought a Durable jacket ( albeit not a "Johnny Replica" ) but a Durable Bike Jacket @ 1950's I was told from a nice old biker in Aurora, Ohio ... the price $300 ... it was pretty close but not a 1 star! I sold it for just under $400 and it took a while. I think you'd struggle to get $6-700 on the bay for a half decent Durable M/C jacket ( their non M/C jackets struggle to reach moe than $200). Jeez you can pick up a really decent Lewis for under £400.

Regardless of wether you like or dislike Andy Fazlon .... this is a REALLY good copy and I'm surprised no-one has done one as good before now, so kudos to BK I think. As for wether we ever see one, my experience with BK re. my M422A was really good ... my Westfall ... less good ( but the new website is much better than the old one).

An original sold at auction sometime recently for about $1400 (if I recall correctly). At first glance I thought it was totally ridiculous considering how non-descript the jacket pattern is (at least as compared to say a J22 or 333). After all, you can easily pick up a vintage one star in decent condition for around $325. But after realizing it was thee (or arguably so) "Brando" jacket, it made sense.

Original, as in the actual screen worn jacket?? Where?

Quoted for truth!

In the 3-4 years I've been actively involved in this market, the prices have gone crazy....

It's not such a new thing. I bought my first A2 - an original, back in the 60's, for less than £10....been going up ever since.

Maybe I'm nuts but I'd really struggle to pay more than $400 for any vintage jacket. Unless it's absolutely time capsule mint. Time takes its toll. On seams, thread, all of it. With a repro you get a fresh start on all that stuff. What's the value of mystique vs actual wearability? Price and value is such a fickle thing. It ebbs and flows and god knows I've been on both sides of that equation.
I do think this is one of the coolest cross zip patterns but I also think a couple tweaks to Aeros bike jacket could get you pretty damn close and I'll bet dollars to donuts a screen grab of that LC jacket sent to Vanson would get you just a bit closer.

Wow on the BK. Wow on the price. the jacket pictured looks to be Liberty HH.

MC Jackets in this Style are easy to find and not that expensive. Call them Vintage or just used, or second hand. there are a ton of them out there. Horsehide/steer all sizes. some clean, some very clean. 4-500$ you could find a nice one. I've got two Vintage MCs and I stay away, they are just too easy to buy. My Sportclad leather is as nice as any Shinki, or Italian for whatever leather, I've compared them, but it is not worth the money a Shinki McCoy Buco. That I don't get.

I'm with you on this one. Conversely, I have far less trouble with buying a vintage denim jacket. My old 50s./60s Sears Roebuck has quite obviously had a massive amount of wear, and looks all the better for it.

I know others will disagree here but I personally think the price is bonkers.

It's crazy just how much the price that some vendors think they can charge has shot up over the 10 years I've been a member here and been interested in jackets.

It is bonkers. These prices are stupid. Someone here said that the best, most expensive horse hide is like under $200 or something like that... So where does the rest of the money go to?

Worst part is, jackets under $500 aren't even considered quality anymore.
