This is my first flight jacket
I was looking for A2 jacket for more than a year and decided for Bill Kelso.
My budget was not big enough for Liberty HH or Badalassi cowhide or Eastman ...
Im very satisfied with this beauty and it became my every day jacket.
Thanks in advance for fit comments [emoji3]

Nice looking jacket, but I'm thinking it's a tad short..........no?

I don’t think it’s a case of the jacket being too short, but of the knits being quite long, almost like a G-1. That makes the leather appear short.

Still looks good though.

That looks damn good - you really pull it off. I rarely see A2's look particularly good in fit shots but this one works. I can't help but think this is a style for slim people. Sometimes I see guys in them who are my age and, shall we say, no longer their fighting weight, and even when their A2 costs over a grand it looks not much better than an eBay Cooper.

Love the shot in the lift. You look like you've just come home after a lucrative bank job.

I'm probably the least knowledgeable person here when it comes to A2's so take that into account...but to me, the total length of the jacket is good but those extra long knits make it look a bit off.

Maybe thats accurate for that contract though?

This is not a copy of a specific contract although the pocket flaps are similar to Roughwear ones. The jacket fits you well in the chest and shoulders but is a little short in the body and the arms. It would be fine with high waisted vintage trousers. There was no perfect fit in the War. You only have to look at Jimmy Stewart wearing a size 40 Roughwear on his lanky frame see an example of a trimmer fitting jacket in terms of body and sleeve length!

To my eye the A-2 seems to have a decent fit, certainly as good as most wartime fit pictures. If the body length were any longer, I think the overall proportion of the A-2 would be off. I suspect part of the perception that the A-2 might not be long enough might be related to low rise jeans that are worn even lower due to looseness in the waist? BTW welcome to the Lounge!

I think it looks awesome man! I personally think the shorter waisted jackets look smarter, like an Ike jacket. Long flight jackets look frumpy sometimes, IMO.

Welcome, BTW!

I agree with you 100%
When I started looking for a2 jacket I started with Avirex from ‘90s on my mind ( Baggy, roomy, long...) and when I discovered Real mccoy fit pictures and many other high End manufacturers I was very surprised about short body of their jackets so I needed to “adapt my eye” to this kind of paterns.

The problem in most pictures is not the jacket lenght but the rise of the trousers. The A-2 repro jackets have the proper lenght most of the time but people forget that the pilots and crew wore high rise trousers with them. The moment people start messing around with the pattern of the jacket the proportions are thrown off and it just looks wrong and bad.

If you wear an A-2 with a pair of WWII dress trousers you'll notice what I mean. The jacket just falls in place, the waistband works and you magically get the look that is often seen in pictures.

The fit is excellent. It's just that with modern low-rise trousers that's what a properly cut A2 look like. Though I personally only ever wear mid-century high rise trousers, I think the short jacket/low rise look is fine on young slim guys....whereas if the jacket were any longer in the body, the proportions of both the jacket and the wearer really would look quite wrong, to me at any rate.

Congratulations on a fine jacket - looking good!
