Offering this Top Hat project for only $45 shipped in the U.S.

23-3/8" inner circumference puts it at right around (or a tick under) 7-1/2. Nicely oval-ized.

I don't think this one's terribly old so what it lacks in 'ancient museum piece vibe' is made up for in sturdiness, cleanliness and practical usage possibilities. Then again, it does have the unsewn seem inside on a very generous 2-3/8" wide sweatband. Unreeded too (is that the case usually with toppers?). [huh]

I'm thinking this is silk plush. It responded favorably to a damp sponging and dry brushing with the grain.

>>Lacking the ribbon, size tag and inner bow at back seam. Also some wrinkles in the sweatband, but for what it's worth, I was able to turn the sweat out and back in a few times easily. The leather is totally strong and supple. Four little nips on underside of brim (see bottom photo) and a few negligible scuffs on topside. The want of a ribbon is the only significant issue.

There you have it. Top that. :)

Too big for me, but I really would have thought that there'd be more demand for a genuine silk plush topper in that size at that price. A UK 7 1/4 (59cm) from Locke costs at least £500. Regardless of how vintage, silk plush hats cannot be made today so I personally think this is the best deal on a hat you're ever likely to find.

Right you are, av'. Thanks for saying so.

If it had the ribbons, I'd be asking for around $100.

This may be another situation where fortunes are actually smiling on me. If it languishes here for a few more days, I'll withdraw it and prep for Ebay. I just like to give first dibs to Loungers.
