UPDATE ON INSANITY

The environmentalists want to drain Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.:D Estimated cost; $10 billion, probably will be closer to $100 billion plus. It only provides water to 2.5 million people.:rage:

The funny part is that right before I left Portland, Oregon, the mayor was making this BIG push to do a Big Dig type of thing to the I405 loop around the city and make all this greenspace on top of it.
I can't image WHY the voters were opposing it!

And for those who have to drive thru it, believe it or not, traffic IS better.
I drove it before it starrted, when it started, and during it.
It IS better! Ok, so it has a few problems, give 'em a break, it only cost 40 billion some odd bucks... :D

It sure isn't better now, with all the tunnel closings. Try going from Brighton to Lynn on backroads. It took me over an hour, and that was with NO traffic for it was at an odd hour. The even funnier thing, I called the turnpike authority before I left to make sure that all of the route I was planning to take would be open. The woman on the phone said "yes, that's a great way to go, shouldn't be any traffic". Half way through my trip, the cones came up, the road I was on was closed. So glad I called the "authorities" for help I spent about 20 minutes going around Government Center, trying to get on another road. What a pain. But, it was worth it, went to Bobby's vintage warhouse. Don't think I'll do it again though, not until those tunnels are open. But then again, do I really want to drive through them!
Hem had a great idea. Fill in all the tunnels and turn the green space into an above ground highway. They aren't planning on doing anything with that space anyway, and it's sure to end up run down and unsafe within a few months of its opening. If they were turning it into the something like the Champs then I'd change my mind.

Let's see; Devil's Slide on California 1 is opening up tomorrow.:eusa_clap Of course they're building a tunnel through the hill that should have been built in 1956, but, hey it's only tax money.:D

Ah, Ms. Buchanan & Mr. Jones...living out here in Western Mass. used to be
just idyllic; now it's idiotic. The convenience of having a major city 90 miles
away is moot when you can't get there from here...as far as corruption is
concerned, why are we called "Taxachussets" and carry a deficit the size of
several smaller countries? And remember, Mitt says everythings' gonna be
OK-he fixed the Olympics, didn't he? Now I'm upset again, dang. Get on
my motorcycle and cruise some roads the state has left alone for awhile...

The Hayward-San Mateo Bridge runs into US 101 and I-880. On the 101 side Demo. Congressman Tom Lantos got a huge interchange built to relieve congestion, while on 880 Pete Stark says he doesn't have time for roads, he's working on Single Payer Healthcare for the past 34 years.:eusa_doh:
