Tower housing Big Ben WILL be renamed the Elizabeth Tower to honour the Queen's Diamond Jubilee
As mentioned in the article I don't think it will be called Elizabeth Tower by most people.

I think that the Queen (especially this one) is great. If I was the POTUS, I'd probably bow, heck she served in WW2 just like my Dad did. I think that they should be naming something new for her, that way it will stick. Big Ben will always be Big Ben, and I'm sure she knows it.

Yes, its the Westminster Clock Tower, but everyone calls it "Big Ben" despite that only being the Bell's name. It's a nice gesture but, to be honest, its a bit of a silly idea to rename it as it is known across the world as "Big Ben" and that isnt likely to change.

They've already tried that in Toronto: Rogers, Loblaws, and Apple Inc. stations? No.

This renaming business doesn't stick! Even one of our modern builds, the SkyDome, was renamed "The Rogers Centre" after one of our telecommunications monopolies bought it. I don't care, I'm still seeing baseball games at the SkyDome, I ain't calling it by a brand name!
