No offense to anyone here but when I was a boy in the 1950s, dressing like that, bib overalls and an old suit jacket and usually with a white shirt, was called "jakey," as in "country jake." One of my father's brothers owned a sawmill, a restaurant and a gas station and dressed like that, although I never saw him wearing an old suit jacket. My father said he was dressed right. I had relatives who would make fun of the men standing around dressed like that in front of G.C. Murphy on Saturday mornings while their wives shopped. Yet every last one of them (my relatives) grew up in the country. Clearly they all had their own ideas about how to appear in public, at least in town.

Hats are a different issue. My father always wore hats and they were whatever was in fashion at the time, only not at work. He wore a baseball cap then. I otherwise don't have any particularly memorable images of him in hats. But one neighbor, who drove an old Studebaker, the kind with the wrap-around rear windows (it wasn't an old car then), had a very distinctive way of wearing a snap-brim hat tilted just so. He also invariably had the cuffs of his shirts turned up one turn. I never knew his name, never spoke to him and he lived in the shabbiest of houses that to this day still looks the same. Whoever you are, someone notices you.

...Do you folks know who still makes HERRINGBONE bib overalls? About the only ones I've been able to find so far are overpriced Japanese products. What do you think of herringbone overalls anyway?

There is one about my size, new old stock "Big Mac" brand, on ebay right now, I might make an offer... Also I've found them dirty cheap on a website called youruniformsource.com. There's no picures though. Has anyone ever dealt with them by chance?

You might also try "All Seasons Uniforms." They have all manner of workwear.

I don't know about the company you asked about, but I did look at their website and for the price I don't see how you could go wrong. I haven't seen herringbone patterned overalls in years (like in 50 years or more).

If you decide to get a pair, please let us know how they are (and post pictures).

As an aside; I get my overalls from Roundhouse. They are America made, have my size (BIG), and are very reasonability priced.

I haven't got a pair of Harringbone, but sounds like something I should look into.
I also buy from LC King and RoundHouse. I wear denim and hickory stripped.

Did you order your regular waist size? Their customre service told me they wear pretty slim so I was thinking of sizing up.

Coveralls (as opposed to overalls) at still commonly made in HBT. I have a pair of work pants in HBT from Pointer Brand but I don't have any coveralls or overalls. One used to see references to dungarees or blue jeans as "waist overalls."

To complete the outfit, you need to have the tag of a little bag of tobacco hanging out of one of the pockets on the bib.

I bought a pair too. I really like the thin soft material. Very comfortable to work in.
The first pair came and was missing the buttons for the fly. They sent me a replacement pair so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

Only bad thing, no watch pocket (I wear pocket watches)

I'll get a pic when I wear them again. Might be tomorrow.
