It's a tough call, but this 1925 shot just might be my favorite Shorpy photo ever.

To really appreciate it, you'll have to click on the image to be taken to the hi-res version. In high resolution, the detail is amazing, and one can carefully study the remarkable faces and the wide variety of apparel.

What a great shot!

There is so much to talk about in this picture.
I'll start by saying check out the stylish guy on the right, second row from the top with his tie tied on backwards.

Also, I love the shawl collar sweater with the Harley logo on it. HD needs to bring those back!

YOW!

Ain't it the truth! Myself, I'm partial to the lad with the buffalo shirt, properly worn as an overshirt, and then a jacket over that.....and the LARGE gent (built like I am...they weren't ALL skinnimalincks) with the pens stuck in his overshirt breastpockets, holding the flaps open.

What a cross section!

Thanks so much,

"Skeet"

The 4th guy from the left in the front row has an unusual hat bash. Anybody ever seen a bash like that?
I've seen similar. It has a very "pick it up and go" look and not something a guy fussed over.

Looks like a cast photo from Miller's Crossing. Totally cool.
Now as to whether it's the coolest ever on Shorpy, that's debatable. An INFINITE number of cool pics on www.shorpy.com.
Every Lounger should stop by there on a regular basis. Closest we'll ever get to a hot tub time machine.

Never seen one, but looks like it was originally a center dent that had been picked up from the sides with two fingers and squashed together. I wonder how long that took to get and stay like that.

Look just under the B in DISTRIBUTORS.

Now tell me what would have happened to you if you had ever worn your dress blues tunic unbuttoned - let alone been photographed doing it.

Absolutely brilliant - like the opening image from a well-crafted HBO series on the intertwined lives of bikers, circa 1925.

What's the patch on this guy's left arm? Some variation of the Motor Transportation Corps insignia?
Looks like he's wearing a wool army shirt and cavalry breeches.

That Marine

Yes, I definitely noticed him. He's not wearing a white hat, so I'm not sure what uniform he's wearing. Was there a high collar green uniform at that time? I think the army still had them. Anyway, I guess he was with his posse, and noone was going to hassle him about it, for sure.

Count the A-1 types

I see two leather and three cloth. Both of the leather ones seem to have snaps all the way up. and the cloth one next to the backwards tie has an interesting collar.

I know very little about uniforms, but isn't the badge on his hat a marine corp insignia?
