If its in solid, very wearable condition I could go up to $600 or so. Would have to check the measurements though (I have long arms). Thank you very much Dr H!

Thor, I though that I was the only guy on the FL with long arms.:D kidding aside, I have always had a problem finding jackets with sleeves long enough.

The length and arm length on the Kelso are fine for me. The sleeves might be half an inch short but so far it's the only standard size jacket that's worked for me. No sleeve tunneling either. I'm 6'2" and have long arms like Fanch.

Yes, long arms is the scourge of vintage jacket fit. That's one reason I usually opt for a full custom repro. And I like the break in of new leather!
I own a Cockpit vintage washed goatskin G-1 (great jacket) and an older size 44 long ELC model m-422a with the G&F label. Sadly it's a tad small for me now (am on the lookout for a 46 long).
I enjoy the research and homework in the search for a new favorite M-422. And the FL is a great place to compare notes with other jacket affecianados.

On the G1 side of the things, I'd get another Cockpit vintage G-1 in your size. I can't say enough how wearable is their "vintage" line. :)

Right you are, Aerojoe! I have one in size 48 (they seem to run a bit small?) and it fits me great, with nice long sleeves, a very nice vintage-y looking washed goatskin. I like mine ALOT!

I wear a 46 long. A couple of months ago I purchased an unpatched version of their Forrestal G-1, this one;

http://www.cockpitusa.com/store/uss-forrestal-carrier-pilots-vietnam-flight-jacket.html

It is their vintage G-1 but with an A-2 collar (ANJ-3 in fact). I sent the shop my measurements and the seller told me that for a given size, measurements are slightly different from jacket to jacket because these are handmade. So he grabbed a meter and found me a size 46 that run slightly long.

I don't know about the rest of Cockpit stuff but their vintage G-1 jackets are great. Maybe somehow underrated probably because people pay more attention to high end makers like GW, BK or Aero.

I agree Aerojoe. If one doesn't get too hung up on the details and just liked the overall look and fit of the jacket, the Cockpit vintage G-1 is a winner. The price for a new one is creeping up too so they must know that it's a quality jacket and not as generic and boring as their mass-produced regular G-1's.

Some of the Cockpit stuff is not historically accurate, for instance their ANJ-4. However I don't think their vintage G-1s are very off. They are very close to the 7823C G-1 spec. Wearability is great :) for me the best of the deal so far. I think these jackets are more wearable than any other historically accurate rep I own so far.

Speaking of, I just looked down at my phone and laughed. 4:22 pm.

Must be an omen...."time" to order another jacket! Or if you wait until 8:44, you can order 2 of them!
Let's see, I'd order a BK W&G M-422 repro AND a new ELC M-422a.

I have just the opposite problem. I always have to get them shortened to fit right! Have an Aero 30's HB ordered w/23.5" sleeve length. Nice to get one I wont have to get tailored!

I'm exactly the opposite! I always have sleeves that are always on the long side, and kills me. It's the reason I started getting suits made for me, just to get the sleeves to set right, otherwise they never quite look right.
